Eco Bridal Jewelry for the Grassroots Bride

First of all I'd like to thank Christine of Vancouver Mom who is representing ecocessories™ jewelry this morning on Breakfast Television! This was ecocessories' first television appearance, and I am honoured to be included in the jewelry designers highlighted on the show.

I've been in the studio designing this week, and I'm working on an eco-bridal line of bracelets, earrings, necklaces and cuff links being debuted at the Grassroots Wedding Fair this Saturday! I have been inspired by my collection of recycled faux pearls, metals, blacks and bling to create this one-of-a-kind collection.

{"Perfect Fit Woven Bracelet", part of ecocessories bridal collection}

As was highlighted by Granville Online this week, I will be selling my ready made designs at the show, as well as consulting with brides who are interested in custom eco-bridal jewelry. We can come up with a design to reinvent beads or vintage jewelry you make have, or you can choose from my selection of recycled beads.

Location: Heritage Hall located at 3102 Main Street, Vancouver
Reserve your tickets today by emailing us at registration@thegrassrootsweddingfair.com.

Recent Press for ecocessories

Good Monday morning! I am welcoming a new week filled with creativity as I prepare for the Grassroots Wedding Fair being held this Saturday in Vancouver, B.C. - details here. I listed some new jewelry designs last week and am preparing more for this week too.

{Cypress Street Short Necklace, sterling silver & recycled beads}

Last week I had the honour of being featured on two different blogs. First I was interviewed by Vancouver Mom as part of their 30 Essential Jewelry Designers series. I felt honoured to be included among many talented individuals and on such a valuable resource for Vancouverites! This awesome website is packed with information specific to kids and moms, but I really think anyone could find value in the expert knowledge of and interviews with locals businesses that are found here. Read my interview here.

I was then contacted by Suzanne from Mommy Footprint, who had been put in touch with ecocessories™ through my friend and lover of eco-jewelry, Chelsea of Sleepy Sheep (note - ecocessories™ customers get 15% off at Sleepy Sheep - find out more!). Suzanne told me she didn't know much about jewelry, but you could have fooled me with the insightful questions she posed, and her own reflections on ecocessories™ jewelry designs. Her article is an amazing compliment and I am grateful for this feature! Read the article here.

ecocessories™ jewelry would make a thoughtful Valentine's gift to a loved one, a best friend, or yourself! To order in time for guaranteed Valentine's Day arrival, please place your order by:

Friday, February 5th - last day to place online Valentine's order for FREE ground shipping in Canada
Tuesday, February 9th - last day to place online Valentine's order for Canada Post Xpresspost in Canada

Recycle Your Old, Broken, Or Unwanted Jewelry

If you live in Canada and have old, broken, or unwanted costume jewelry that is cluttering up your life, ecocessories™ jewelry recycling service is the solution for you. I have recently updated my recycle page to make it even easier for those living in Canada to recycle their jewelry! Here is how it works:

1. Visit the Recycle page
2. Fill out the "Yes! I want to recycle my jewelry" form
3. Wait for a postage-paid envelope to arrive
4. Fill the envelope with your old, broken, or unwanted jewelry
5. Throw the envelope in your nearest mailbox

Once the jewelry arrives, it serves as inspiration for my new sterling silver & recycled bead designs. I disassemble the jewelry, clean the beads and vintage components, sort the beads by colour, and let my creative juices take over.

I personally do all the silversmithing you see in my new designs, such as my signature clasps, hammered circles, soldered links and more. My new designs are high quality, designer jewelry with an eco-friendly twist. If you recycle jewelry - keep an eye on the ecocessories™ online store - maybe your recycled beads will inspire me next!

Eco-Friendly Cufflinks For Green Grooms

Lately I have weddings on the brain and that is because I am planning my own eco-friendly wedding that is happening this summer on August, 21, 2010! I wanted something really special and eco-friendly to complete the outfits of the groom and the groomsmen, so before Christmas I spent a few hours in the studio coming up with just that.

I sourced out a vintage coin shop and browsed catalogues of coins to come up with Eco-Friendly Silver Dime Cufflinks for the men in my bridal party. These cufflinks were given as Christmas gifts, and boy did they go over well! All the guys were impressed and can't wait to sport their one-of-a-kind silver cufflinks.

I wanted something a little bit different for each guy so I chose dimes from a variety of dates. I also varied whether I used the "heads" side or the "tails" side so they each turned out quite unique. I did my research and found out that Canadian dimes were only composed of sterling silver up until 1966, so all the dimes I chose predate that time. This worked out well because I wanted to give my father and father-in-law dimes for their birth years, which were 1953 and 1956 respectively.

The rest of the cufflinks featured kings and the maple boughs, which were the decoration on the "tails" side of the dime up until 1935. I have now listed these Eco-Friendly Silver Dime Cufflinks at the ecocessories™ online store so the men in your wedding can sport and eco-friendly accessory to their outfits too!

I'd love to know what you think of the cufflinks. Comment below.

Green Living Show Welcomes ecocessories in April 2010

Happy New Year to my ecocessories fans, followers, and customers. You have truly made 2009 and exciting and fulfilling year for my little eco business! I've spent the holiday season visiting with friends and family, first in Florida and next in my hometown of Sarnia, Ontario.

I am now making plans for ecocessories' growth in 2010 and have accepted an invitation to participate in the Green Living Show from April 23-25, 2010 at the Direct Energy Centre in the Exhibition Place in Toronto. Participating in a large Ontario market will allow me to expose ecocessories to a broader scope of Canadian eco-fashionistas! Check out this video to see what the show is all about, and make plans to visit ecocessories at the Green Living Show in April:
