Brown Bagging It!

ecocessories is officially brown bagging it! I carved out a couple stamps tonight, one with my ecocessories tree, and another reminding you to recycle the bag. Unless of course you hang on to it for awhile and tell all your friends about ecocessories!

Using acrylic paint, I stamped some brown paper bags, of course made from recycled paper, for packaging up your purchases.

Check out the new bags... the passion for all things handmade and encouraging recycling when and wherever I can resonates throughout ecocessories, packaging and all!

Buy 1, Get 1 Free! AND Free Shipping in Canada!

What would make me have such a great sale? Well, I am very excited to share that I am taking a course in silversmithing this fall! The course is offered locally through North Van Continuing Ed and will teach me everything about sawing, piercing, soldering, and texturing to allow me to create much higher quality jewelry.

I am extremely excited to be taking this course and it means a lot for ecocessories! My NEW website is being launched around Oct. 1st and I will be displaying all new inventory created using fair-trade silver. Using the fair-trade silver and my new silversmithing techniques will really improve the quality of my work.

This means it's time to have a SALE!!! For every one item you buy from my Picasa web album you will get a second item 50% off! And to make it even easier, I am offering FREE SHIPPING anywhere in Canada. Now really is the best time to shop!

To buy an item, simply email me at and tell me the product code of the jewelry you want (each picture in my Picasa album is labeled and priced).

Sorting, Cleaning and Creating with Donated Jewelry

I spent the past weekend disassembling all the jewelry that was donated to ecocessories while I was in Ontario. Check out what happens to your jewelry as it travels from your jewelry box to my studio...

First, the jewelry is sorted by colour and material....

beads sorted by colour waiting to be cleaned

Using boiling water and baking soda I remove the tarnish from the silver & gold metal pieces. Placing the metal on a piece of tinfoil and pouring the boiling water/baking soda over is supposed to help with removing the tarnish...

Each sorted pile of beads is cleaned with a drop of gentle eco-friendly detergent and sterilized with vinegar and all the packages of beads are laid out to dry overnight.

Finally, everything is sorted more specifically by colour and organized into my bead drawers!

When you reduce something to its parts, its true beauty is revealed. This is how I feel about each item donated to ecocessories and is why I am able to work with so many different materials. Email me at to arrange a donation!
